Caroni AD Rattray 13 Years

A little unusual it will again. The following rum I found by chance and good luck bought - you have to somehow come after all of the "Porto-frontier" for online orders. ;-)

Unfortunately, only bottled at 46% Vol ...
Here, the actors have promised a high quality, delicious product.
Caroni is a rum in Trinidad, which - if I interpret the information available for the right - has filled some time under its own name Rum , now However, only manufactures and sells its spirits then bottlers. These can then run the product under their name or use it for blending.
I suspect also that may equate to "Rum Distillers of Trinidad & Tobago Limited" with "Caroni" - the site can at least close to it. A demand for evidence-was not possible because the contact is irrelevant.

AD Rattray's roots date back to 1868, even then with a similar operation today. The economic turmoil in the 1920s but to beat here and finally lead to a Sales of the company. Only since 2004, filled in the old way on.
Until now, the second actor to be found exclusively at the Whisky and the area has now expanded its product range by two rums.
Although we currently find no further information to rum on the website of the bottler, but - on request by email - it could simply not be included due to time constraints.
Do not worry - so little in
glass is otherwise uncommon
Back to operation AD Rattray: The company buys selected (they are most "interesting") Barrels of whiskey / rum, and bottled unfiltered, this, undyed and undiluted from. The last aspect, however, subject to a limitation: it established a established 46% series in which the corresponding distillates slightly diluted. Even with the previously published
rum this limitation, unfortunately. A number Rum Cask Strength would have been nice too ...

Enough with the background knowledge, how does the good wine for the taste from?

Caroni AD Rattray 13 Years

Appearance: Reddish-brown to the typical amber color. Pronounced "Fat" streaks. 13 years in oak create a beautiful appearance.

Smell: The aroma hang full and heavy in the air. Overripe (South) fruits, a little fresh wood and something spicy (vanilla?, Nutmeg?) Resonates. Total
very gentle, despite the 46% by volume almost any field. The relationship is sweet / dry balance.

Taste: Amazing! Quite strong in taste on the tongue a rich sweetness, hints of toasted caramel. In addition, dip the overripe fruit on again. The transition
the palate is almost fluent with an astonishing U-turn: Smoke! A gentle, not too stressed smoky taste the taste buds happy. Spicy support the smoke becomes aware of subtle fine-tobacco flavors. The medium-long finish is dominated by the decaying smoke, supported by some dark chocolate.

Conclusion: A fascinating Rum - he does not need excessive force to persuade.
The smell is to be described almost as a flowery, but a nice reversal takes place at the palate, which is just the thing to keep in mind that rum.

further information: Bottlers: AD Rattray, age: 13y, alcohol content: 46% by volume; Fassnr: RR1074; warehouse data. 17.06.1997-22.10.2010; Approximate price: 43 € (0.7l)

Exclusive!
So I can say at this point a strong buy recommendation. Who now eager should hurry up because the bottler has secured a 5 barrels, from "my" were just 372 bottles.

Whether the distillate from Guyana is a stroke of luck too, will soon have to show. :-)
